Procedure
  • To Enter: There is no separate application for the Solo Competition; you only need to be accepted into the STS Participant Class. On your final registration make sure you check the box that says you intend to compete and pay the $40 competition fee. You do not need to submit a recording of the required solo rep at any time.
  • Competitors will perform the required repertoire without piano at the beginning of the STS. This first round of the competition will also serve as the participant's placement audition for chamber music at the STS.
  • Finalists will be selected and will be assigned rehearsal time with a pianist provided by the STS.
  • Finalists will perform with piano in the final round in a live recital-type format, open to the public and all participants.
  • Prizewinners will be announced in a brief presentation ceremony following the deliberation of the judges. All prizes will be awarded at the STS.

Deadlines
  • It is in the best interest of those wishing to compete to apply and audition for the STS early.
  • The STS Participant Class is limited to 32, and when the spots are full no more competition entrants can be considered.
  • We will begin accepting participants on March 15, 2020.
  • STS applications will not be considered until $35 application fee is paid and audition recordings are received, or live audition takes place.
